About Us
We are a trio of highly qualified experienced classroom practitioners who have a combined experience of over 15 years of teaching Mathematics to a range of age groups from 5-18 years old across a spectrum of abilities.
We have found that too many students are actively attending and paying for tuition services which are teaching for procedure focusing on rote learning rather than building a deeper conceptual understanding. Exam boards are now actively redesigning their questions to target conceptual understanding and this is exactly why we have come together with an aim of ‘Teaching For Concept’.
Our journey began as colleagues, working in the Mathematics department at the same School, where we mutually recognised each others passion for teaching and efforts in addressing issues surrounding understanding of the core concepts. Conversations regarding the challenges faced by each of us as professionals in pushing our students to have a much deeper understanding of content delivered by teachers/tutors became more frequent and more pressing. We found that often it was not the student at fault, rather, it was the delivery of the content which was the issue. Hence our core principle of teaching for the concept was born. This idea of “Teaching for Concept” is and will forever be the underlying vision behind Maths Tree Tuition.

As a former advisor in the financial industry I worked with numbers, explaining and implementing complex ideas into business models on a regular basis. This experience was the foundation block to starting my teaching career. As an experienced teacher my focus is to identify and bridge gaps in students’ knowledge and develop understanding in complex concepts of mathematics so they can be empowered to solve a range of problems.

My approach focuses on fostering a deeper understanding of the concepts behind problems, rather than simply offering step-by-step instructions. My goal is to empower students to enhance their comprehension and develop a genuine appreciation for these subjects.

My passion lies in practical applications of mathematics, particularly with an applied focus such as statistical analysis and economic forecasting. I have a high energy approach to teaching, initially focusing on development of key mathematical concepts in order to build student’s confidence and empower them to be able to apply their learning to deeper problem solving tasks independently.
I am a fully qualified Maths Teacher (QTS) with many years classroom experience and I have always believed in excellence in the execution of all that we do.
